The MikroTik RB951-2n is a compact 2.4GHz wireless router and access point designed for basic home, small-office and networking applications. It combines wireless connectivity with five independent 10/100 Ethernet ports, making it suitable for connecting computers, switches, printers, IP devices and other network equipment.

The RB951-2n supports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi with a maximum wireless data rate of 150Mbps. Its integrated 2.4GHz radio uses 1×1 MIMO and onboard antennas, providing a simple all-in-one wireless networking solution.

At its core is an Atheros AR9331 processor with 32MB RAM, while MikroTik RouterOS Level 4 provides advanced networking capabilities such as routing, firewall configuration, NAT, DHCP, bandwidth management and wireless configuration.

The device supports passive PoE input through Ethernet port 1, as well as DC power through its power jack. Its compact 113 × 89 × 28 mm design also allows convenient placement on a desk or wall.

Important: The RB951-2n is an older/discontinued MikroTik model. Do not confuse it with the RB951Ui-2HnD, which has a faster CPU, more RAM, USB and PoE-out functionality.

Wireless Connectivity

The RB951-2n provides 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n wireless connectivity with a maximum data rate of 150Mbps.

Its integrated antenna system makes it suitable for basic wireless coverage without requiring an external antenna. The device uses 1×1 MIMO and has onboard PIF antennas with up to 1.5dBi gain.

It can be configured as a wireless access point or used in different RouterOS wireless networking configurations depending on the network requirements.

Ethernet Connectivity

The RB951-2n includes five independent 10/100 Ethernet ports.

This allows the router to connect multiple wired devices while simultaneously providing wireless connectivity. Ethernet ports support automatic straight-through/crossover cable correction, simplifying installation.

MikroTik RouterOS

One of the main advantages of the MikroTik RB951-2n is RouterOS.

RouterOS provides extensive networking functionality, including:

  • IP routing
  • Firewall
  • NAT
  • DHCP server and client
  • DNS services
  • Wireless management
  • Bridge configuration
  • VLAN configuration
  • Bandwidth management
  • Traffic control
  • VPN functionality
  • User management
  • Network monitoring

This makes the RB951-2n considerably more configurable than a basic consumer wireless router.

Power & PoE

The RB951-2n can be powered through its DC power jack or through passive PoE on Ethernet port 1.

It accepts 8–30V DC input and consumes up to approximately 3W under maximum load. It is important to distinguish its passive PoE input from 802.3af/at active PoE.

Compact Design

Measuring only 113 × 89 × 28mm, the RB951-2n is designed for installations where space is limited.

Its housing includes mounting provisions, allowing it to be positioned conveniently in home or small-office environments.
